What to tell us when you call
Before you ring, grab three things: the brand, the model number and what the fridge is doing. The model label is usually on the inside wall of the fridge section, behind the crisper drawers or on the back. Take a photo of it, plus any error code or flashing light. If food is at risk, tell us when the fridge last worked properly. It helps us bring the right parts and decide how urgent the visit is.
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Check the fridge is set to about 3 to 5°C and the freezer to -18°C.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the vents inside, and that the door closes fully.
- Wipe the door seals and check they grip a sheet of paper.
- Leave a few centimetres of space behind and beside the fridge for airflow.
- Look for frost at the back of the freezer and water under the crisper drawers.
- Keep the door closed. A shut fridge holds cold for about four hours, a full freezer for a day or more.
