Electrolux Fridge Repairs for Every Model We See in Sydney
Electrolux fridges are common in Sydney kitchens, from older top-mounts to newer French-door and quad-door models. The faults repeat: a fridge that slowly stops cooling, a freezer that ices up, an ice maker that has stopped, water under the crisper or a door seal that has gone. Most are a fan, a defrost part, a sensor or a seal, and most are fixed on the first visit.
We repair Electrolux fridges across Sydney, from the Blacktown and Parramatta to the Inner West and South West. We are an independent repairer, not Electrolux. If your fridge is still under warranty, contact the retailer or manufacturer first. If it isn’t, we’ll come out. For other brands, see our fridge repairs in Sydney page, or our Westinghouse and LG fridge pages.
Bottom-mount fridges
Fridge on top and freezer drawer below. Cooling faults, freezer ice-up and drawer seals are the usual reasons we're called.
French-door fridges
Two doors on top and a freezer drawer below, often with an ice and water dispenser. Filter, inlet valve and ice maker faults come up often.
Quad-door fridges
Four-door models with separate compartments. More doors and seals mean more places for air to leak.
Top-mount fridges
The classic Australian layout, with the freezer on top. Hardworking and simple, so fans, defrost parts, door seals and start relays do most of the failing.
Side-by-side fridges
Tall fridge and freezer side by side. Frosted vents, noisy fans and dispenser faults are the common calls.
Common Faults
Common Electrolux Fridge Problems and What Causes Them
The faults we see most on Electrolux fridges, and what's usually behind them.
Electrolux fridge not cooling
If the freezer is cold and the fridge is warm, cold air isn't being passed across, which is usually a damper, a fan or a frosted vent. If both sections are warm, we check the condenser fan, the start components and the compressor in that order, before suggesting anything expensive.
Freezer icing up
Frost on the back wall or around the vents means the defrost cycle has stopped. The defrost heater, the thermostat or the timer is normally behind it, and a blocked drain makes it worse. We clear the ice, find the part and test the cycle before we leave.
Ice maker and water dispenser faults
No ice, small ice, a jammed tray or water that won't dispense. The usual causes are a frozen fill tube, a blocked or overdue water filter, a faulty inlet valve or an ice maker module that has failed. Check the filter and the freezer temperature first.
Water leaks
Water pooling in the crisper drawers or under the fridge is normally a blocked defrost drain. On models with a dispenser it can also be a loose water line or a filter that isn't seated. It's a quick fix if caught early.
Noises: rattling, buzzing and humming
A rattle is usually a fan hitting frost or a loose blade. A louder hum from the back can be the compressor working hard because of an airflow or defrost problem, not because it's failing. Don't ignore a new noise.
Door seals, lights and thermostats
A worn seal lets warm air in and makes the fridge run constantly. A thermostat or temperature sensor that has drifted can freeze food or let it warm. Both are cheap parts compared with the electricity they waste.
Symptoms & Causes
Electrolux Fridge Problems: Symptom to Likely Cause
A quick guide to what the symptom usually points to. A proper diagnosis confirms it before any part is replaced.
| What you notice | What it points to | Usually caused by |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge warm, freezer cold | Cold air isn't reaching the fridge side | A stuck air damper, a failed evaporator fan or a frosted vent |
| Both fridge and freezer warm | The sealed system isn't cooling | A failed condenser fan, a faulty start relay or overload, or a compressor fault |
| Compressor clicks on and off | It's trying to start and failing | A worn start relay or overload protector, which are small replaceable parts |
| Ice on the back wall of the freezer | The defrost cycle has stopped | A failed defrost heater, thermostat or timer, or a blocked drain |
| Water in the crisper or on the floor | Defrost water isn't draining | A blocked defrost drain, or a loose water line on dispenser models |
| Fridge runs all the time | It's working hard to hold temperature | A dirty condenser, a worn door seal or a fan that isn't moving air |
| Ice maker or water dispenser stopped | Water isn't reaching or freezing in the maker | A frozen fill tube, a blocked filter, a faulty inlet valve or a failed ice maker module |

Electrolux Fridge Repair Prices in Sydney
Every visit is a flat $190, whether it's a quick sensor swap or a longer job. That covers the call-out, the diagnosis and all of the labour. Parts are the only extra, and you get the price before anything is fitted. Some repairers only include the first half hour of labour and charge by the quarter hour after that, so here’s exactly what ours covers.
| What happens on the visit | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Fault that needs no part, such as a frosted vent, a blocked defrost drain or a resetNo part needed | $190 |
| Repair that needs a part, such as an evaporator fan, defrost heater, sensor, door seal or control boardPart price confirmed before fitting | $190 + the part |
| Diagnosis only, you decide not to go aheadYou still get a clear answer on the fault and cost | $190 |
No hourly rate

Before You Call
Find Your Electrolux Model Number and Try These Safe Checks
Where to find the model number
On most Electrolux fridges there’s a rating label inside the fridge section, usually on the left or right wall or behind the crisper drawers, and some models also have it on the back. Model numbers usually start with the letter E, followed by letters and numbers. Take a photo of the label and have it ready when you call, with a description of what the fridge is doing. It helps us bring the right parts.
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Check the fridge is set to about 3 to 5°C and the freezer to -18°C.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the vents inside, and that the door closes fully.
- Wipe the door seals and check they grip a sheet of paper.
- Leave a few centimetres of space behind and beside the fridge for airflow.
- Look for frost at the back of the freezer and water under the crisper drawers.
- Note how long the fridge has been warm and whether it clicks or hums before you call.
Repair Or Replace
Is It Worth Repairing an Electrolux Fridge?
Most of the time, yes. If the fix costs well under half the price of a similar new fridge and it's under ten years old, repair it.
Usually worth fixing
- One part has failed, like a fan, sensor, heater, seal or board
- The fridge is under about ten years old
- The repair is well under half the price of a similar new fridge
- It was cooling fine until recently
Think twice when
- A sealed-system fault or refrigerant leak on an older fridge
- Several expensive parts failing at once
- A fridge past 12 to 15 years and running hard
- The repair costs close to a new fridge
Check your paperwork before you pay for a major repair, in case the manufacturer's warranty still applies. The $190 call-out gets you a straight answer on the day, and you only pay for a part if you go ahead. See how our pricing works, or our fridge repairs page for other brands.

Got Questions?
Electrolux Fridge Repair FAQs
How much does an Electrolux fridge repair cost in Sydney?
It's a flat $190 call-out that covers the visit, the diagnosis and all of the labour, plus the price of a part if your fridge needs one. Some faults, like a frosted vent or a blocked defrost drain, need no part at all, so $190 is the whole bill. When a part is needed, you hear its price before it's fitted.
Can you repair my Electrolux fridge today?
Often, yes. Ring as early in the day as you can, tell us it's an Electrolux and what it's doing, and we'll give you the earliest time. We take bookings 24 hours a day and do after-hours repairs too. Until we arrive, keep the doors shut and move anything you can't afford to lose into an esky with ice.
Why is my Electrolux fridge not cooling?
If the freezer is cold and the fridge side is warm, the usual causes are a stuck air damper, a failed evaporator fan or a frosted vent. If both sections are warm, it can be a condenser fan, a start relay or the compressor. It's worth a diagnosis before you assume the worst, because the cheaper parts are far more common.
Why is the freezer in my Electrolux fridge icing up?
Ice on the back wall usually means the defrost cycle has stopped. The defrost heater, the sensor or the control board is normally behind it, and a blocked drain makes it worse. Thawing the fridge only clears the ice for a while, so it's worth having the cause found.
My Electrolux ice maker or water dispenser has stopped. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. The common causes are a frozen fill tube, a blocked or overdue water filter, a faulty inlet valve or a failed ice maker module. Replace the filter if it's due and check the freezer is cold enough, and if the problem continues, call us.
Why is there water in the bottom of my Electrolux fridge?
Water in the crisper drawers or pooling at the bottom is normally a blocked defrost drain. Gently clearing the drain can help, and if it keeps coming back there's usually a defrost fault behind it. On models with a dispenser, check that the filter is seated and the water line is tight.
Why is my Electrolux fridge noisy?
A rattle is usually a fan hitting frost or a loose blade. A louder hum or buzz from the back can be the compressor working hard because of an airflow or defrost fault rather than a failed compressor. If the noise is new or getting louder, have it checked early.
Do you repair French-door, quad-door and bottom-mount Electrolux fridges?
Yes. We repair top-mount, bottom-mount, French-door, quad-door and side-by-side Electrolux fridges. Tell us the model number when you call, and take a photo of the rating label to help us bring the right parts.
Are you an Electrolux authorised service agent?
No. We're an independent repairer. If your fridge is still under warranty, contact the retailer or Electrolux first. If the warranty has ended, or the fault isn't covered, we'll come out.
Where in Sydney do you repair Electrolux fridges?
Across the whole of metropolitan Sydney, including the CBD and Inner City, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, the Hills District, South West Sydney, St George and the Sutherland Shire.
What warranty do I get on an Electrolux fridge repair?
Every repair carries a 2-year warranty. Keep your invoice, and if the same fault comes back within that time, call us. Plenty of Sydney repairers offer 90 days to 12 months, so two years goes well beyond the usual.
Do I still pay the $190 if I decide not to go ahead?
Yes. The $190 covers the technician's visit and the diagnosis, so it applies whether or not you go ahead. You still finish with a clear answer on what's wrong and what it would cost to fix.
