LG Fridge Repairs for Every Model We See in Sydney
LG fridges are well built, but they do fail, and the faults tend to repeat. A fridge that stops cooling, a freezer that ices up, an ice maker that jams, a fan that rattles or an error code on the display are the calls we get most. Most are a fan, a sensor, a defrost part or a seal, and most are fixed on the first visit.
We repair LG fridges across Sydney, from the CBD to Parramatta, the North Shore and the South West. We are an independent repairer, not LG. If your fridge is still under warranty, contact LG first. If it isn’t, we’ll come out. Searching for fridge repairs in Sydney for another brand? See our main fridge page.
French-door fridges
Two doors on top, a freezer drawer below. Ice makers, water dispensers and the InstaView or Door-in-Door panels are the usual call-outs.
Side-by-side fridges
Tall fridge and freezer side by side, often with a dispenser. Frosted vents, noisy fans and ice maker faults are common.
Bottom-mount fridges
Fridge on top, freezer drawer below. Cooling faults, door seals and defrost problems are the usual reasons we're called.
Top-mount fridges
Freezer on top, fridge below. Simple, hardworking models where the fan, defrost parts and seals do most of the failing.
Compact and bar fridges
Smaller LG units for units, offices and granny flats. Thermostat, seal and compressor-start faults.
Common Faults
Common LG Fridge Problems and What Causes Them
The faults we see most on LG fridges, and what's usually behind them.
LG fridge not cooling
If the fridge is warm and the freezer is fine, cold air isn't reaching the fridge side. A stuck damper, a failed evaporator fan or a frosted vent is more likely than a compressor fault. If both sections are warm, we check the condenser fan, the start components and the compressor, in that order.
Freezer icing up
Frost on the back wall or around the vents means the defrost cycle has stopped. The defrost heater, the defrost sensor or the control board is usually behind it, and a blocked drain makes it worse. We clear the ice, find the part and test the cycle before we leave.
Ice maker and water dispenser faults
No ice, small ice, a jammed tray or water that won't dispense. The usual causes are a frozen fill tube, a blocked water filter, a faulty inlet valve or an ice maker module that has failed.
Buzzing, humming or rattling
A rattle is usually a fan hitting frost or a loose fan blade. A louder buzz or hum from the back can be the compressor working hard, often because of an airflow or defrost fault rather than the compressor itself. Don't ignore it.
Water leaking
Water on the floor or inside the crisper drawers normally comes from a blocked defrost drain, a loose water line or an overfilled drip tray. It's a quick repair if caught early and expensive if the water gets into the controls.
Error codes and a dead display
An error code tells us which part the fridge thinks has failed. The part itself is often fine and the sensor or wiring is the real problem, which is why we test before we replace. A blank or flickering display is usually the control board.
Error Codes
LG Fridge Error Codes and What They Usually Mean
Meanings can vary by model, so check your manual if a code isn't listed. If a code keeps coming back, call us.
| Code | What it points to | Usually caused by |
|---|---|---|
| Er FF | Freezer fan problem | Frost on the fan, a failed fan motor or a loose connector |
| Er CF | Condenser fan problem | Dust on the condenser fan, a seized motor or a wiring fault |
| Er dH | Defrost heater problem | A failed defrost heater or a blown defrost thermal fuse |
| Er dS | Defrost sensor problem | A faulty sensor or a damaged wire |
| Er FS | Freezer sensor problem | A faulty freezer temperature sensor |
| Er rS | Fridge sensor problem | A faulty fridge temperature sensor |
| Er CO | Communication error | A loose connection between the display and the main board, or a failed board |
Clear Pricing
LG Fridge Repair Prices in Sydney
Every visit is a flat $190, whether it's a quick sensor swap or a longer job. That covers the call-out, the diagnosis and all of the labour. Parts are the only extra, and you get the price before anything is fitted. Some repairers only include the first half hour of labour and charge by the quarter hour after that, so here’s exactly what ours covers.
| What happens on the visit | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Fault that needs no part, such as a frosted vent, a blocked defrost drain or a resetNo part needed | $190 |
| Repair that needs a part, such as an evaporator fan, defrost heater, sensor, door seal or control boardPart price confirmed before fitting | $190 + the part |
| Diagnosis only, you decide not to go aheadYou still get a clear answer on the fault and cost | $190 |
No hourly rate
Labour is part of the $190, whether the job takes twenty minutes or two hours. A fridge that takes a while to pull apart doesn't cost you extra time.

Before You Call
Find Your LG Model Number and Try These Safe Checks
Where to find the model number
On most LG fridges there’s a label on the inside wall of the fridge section, either the left or right side, or behind the crisper drawers. Some models also have it on the back. LG model numbers usually start with the letter G, followed by letters and numbers. Take a photo of the label and have it ready when you call, with the error code if there is one. It helps us bring the right parts.
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Check the fridge is set to about 3 to 5°C and the freezer to -18°C.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the vents inside, and that the door closes fully.
- Wipe the door seals and check they grip a sheet of paper.
- Leave a few centimetres of space behind and beside the fridge for airflow.
- Look for frost at the back of the freezer and water under the crisper drawers.
- Note any error code and take a photo of the display before you call.
Repair Or Replace
Is It Worth Repairing an LG Fridge?
Most of the time, yes. If the fix costs well under half the price of a similar new fridge and it's under ten years old, repair it.
Usually worth fixing
- One part has failed, like a fan, sensor, heater, seal or board
- The fridge is under about ten years old
- The repair is well under half the price of a similar new fridge
- It was cooling fine until recently
Think twice when
- A sealed-system fault or refrigerant leak on an older fridge
- Several expensive parts failing at once
- A fridge past 12 to 15 years and running hard
- The repair costs close to a new fridge
Many LG fridges carry a longer manufacturer warranty on the compressor, so check your paperwork before you pay for a compressor repair. The $190 call-out gets you a straight answer on the day, and you only pay for a part if you go ahead. See how our pricing works, or our fridge repairs page for other brands.

Got Questions?
LG Fridge Repair FAQs
How much does an LG fridge repair cost in Sydney?
It's a flat $190 call-out that covers the visit, the diagnosis and all of the labour, plus the price of a part if your fridge needs one. Some LG faults, like a frosted vent or a blocked defrost drain, need no part at all, so $190 is the whole bill. When a part is needed, you hear its price before it's fitted.
Can you repair my LG fridge today?
Often, yes. Ring as early in the day as you can, tell us it's an LG fridge and what it's doing, and we'll give you the earliest time. We take bookings 24 hours a day and do after-hours repairs too. Until we arrive, keep the doors shut and move anything you can't afford to lose into an esky with ice.
Why is my LG fridge not cooling but the freezer is fine?
Cold air isn't reaching the fridge side. The usual causes are a stuck air damper, a failed evaporator fan or a frosted-over vent, all of which are repairable. It's rarely the compressor, so it's worth a diagnosis before you assume the worst.
What does the error code on my LG fridge mean?
The code points to the part or sensor the fridge thinks is faulty, such as a fan, a defrost heater or a temperature sensor. The meaning can vary by model, and the part itself is often fine while a sensor or connector is the real fault. Note the code, take a photo of the display and call us with the model number.
Why is my LG fridge making a buzzing or humming noise?
A rattle is usually a fan hitting frost or a loose blade. A louder buzz or hum from the back can be the compressor working hard, often because of an airflow or defrost fault rather than a failed compressor. If the noise is new or getting louder, have it checked early.
Is my LG fridge's compressor covered by a longer warranty?
Many LG fridges carry a longer manufacturer warranty on the compressor than on the rest of the fridge. Check your paperwork or contact LG before you pay for a compressor repair. We're an independent repairer, so we can't speak for LG's terms, but we'll tell you what we find.
Do you repair LG French-door and side-by-side fridges?
Yes. We repair French-door, side-by-side, bottom-mount and top-mount LG fridges, including ice makers, water dispensers and models with the InstaView or Door-in-Door panels. Tell us the model number when you call, and take a photo of the label to help us bring the right parts.
My LG ice maker has stopped making ice. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. The common causes are a frozen fill tube, a blocked water filter, a faulty inlet valve or a failed ice maker module. Check the filter first and make sure the freezer is cold enough, and if there's still no ice, call us.
Are you an LG authorised service agent?
No. We're an independent repairer. If your LG fridge is still under warranty, contact LG first. If the warranty has ended, or the fault isn't covered, we'll repair it where it stands.
Where in Sydney do you repair LG fridges?
Across the whole of metropolitan Sydney, including the CBD and Inner City, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, the Hills District, South West Sydney, St George and the Sutherland Shire.
What warranty do I get on an LG fridge repair?
Every repair carries a 2-year warranty. Keep your invoice, and if the same fault comes back within that time, call us. Plenty of Sydney repairers offer 90 days to 12 months, so two years goes well beyond the usual.
Do I still pay the $190 if I decide not to go ahead?
Yes. The $190 covers the technician's visit and the diagnosis, so it applies whether or not you go ahead. You still finish with a clear answer on what's wrong and what it would cost to fix.
