The Short Version
What You’ll Pay for an Appliance Repair in Sydney
One number to remember: $190. It’s the call-out, and the labour is already in it.
Flat call-out, labour included
$190per visit
- A licensed technician at your door, anywhere in Sydney
- A proper fault diagnosis, tested rather than guessed
- Unlimited labour for the repair, with no clock running
- A plain explanation of what failed and what it will cost
- A 2-year warranty on the repair
Only if needed
Parts are extra
- Replacement parts, only if your appliance needs one
- The part price is confirmed before anything is fitted, and you decide yes or no
- That’s all. No hourly rate and no extra labour charges
Lots of repairs need no part at all. Blocked pumps, jammed drums, dirty filters and loose connections are all fixed within the call-out.
What a typical bill looks like
| Situation | Parts | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| Washing machine drain pump blocked with a coin or sock | None, cleared on the visit | $190 |
| Dryer not heating because the element has failed | One heating element | $190 + element |
| Fridge warm because a fan or sensor has died | One fan or thermistor | $190 + part |
| Washer with a leaking door seal | One door seal | $190 + seal |
| Two faults found during the same visit | Whatever each fault needs | $190 + parts |
Why Flat Pricing
A Lower Call-Out Fee Isn’t Always the Cheaper Repair
The headline number is only half the story. What matters is what happens after the first half hour.
A lot of Sydney repairers advertise a call-out fee that looks lower than ours. Read the fine print and it usually buys the first 15 to 30 minutes of the technician’s time. After that, the labour is billed in blocks.
Diagnosing a fridge that won’t cool, or a washer that stops mid-cycle, rarely takes 20 minutes. So the bill you actually pay is the call-out plus however long the job runs, and you don’t find out the total until the work is done.
We take the clock out of it. $190 covers the visit and all of the labour. If the technician needs an hour and a half, the labour price doesn’t move.
“No call-out fee” repairs
You’ll see ads for fridge repairs with no call-out fee. Sometimes that’s genuine. Often the cost simply moves somewhere else, like a higher hourly rate, a compulsory diagnostic charge or extra on the parts. We’d rather put one clear figure in front of you before you book.
A 90-minute fridge job, side by side
| Item | Pay-by-the-clock | Sydney Appliance Services |
|---|---|---|
| Call-out | $150, covers the first 30 minutes | $190, labour included |
| Extra labour (60 min) | 4 × $45 blocks = $180 | $0 |
| Part (same part, same price) | $X | $X |
| Total before the part | $330 | $190 |
Illustration only, using round numbers. It isn’t a quote from any particular business. Ask any repairer for their own figures.
Ask any repairer these five questions
- How much is the call-out, and how many minutes of labour does it cover?
- What do you charge once those minutes are used up?
- Is there a separate diagnostic or inspection fee?
- Will you quote the part price before you fit it?
- How long is the warranty, and does it cover the repair itself?
Our answers: $190 with all labour included, nothing extra after that, no separate diagnostic fee, part prices confirmed before fitting, and 2 years on the repair.

Parts Pricing
How Replacement Parts Are Priced
Parts are the only thing that can add to the $190. You’ll always get the exact price for your appliance before we fit anything.
What moves the final price
Brand and model
A part for a premium European washer or a smart fridge costs more than the equivalent for a basic model.
Age of the appliance
Older models can mean harder-to-find parts, and sometimes a higher price for them.
Genuine or aftermarket
We fit genuine manufacturer parts where they’re available, which keeps fit and performance as the manufacturer intended.
Which part failed
A simple sensor and an electronic control board can cause the same symptom. Diagnosis is how we tell them apart.
What never moves: the labour
Whether it takes twenty minutes or two hours, the labour price stays inside the $190. A tricky repair on a built-in fridge costs you the same labour as an easy one on a basic washer.
Free Phone Quotes
Get a Fridge, Washer or Dryer Repair Quote Before You Book
You don’t need to book anything to find out where you stand. Call us, tell us what the appliance is doing, and we’ll talk you through the likely cause, the parts it might need and what the repair would cost.
Plenty of faults can be priced over the phone. Some can’t, because two completely different problems can look the same from the outside. When that’s the case, we’ll say so rather than guess a number, and the technician will confirm the part and price on site before doing anything.
Have this ready for the most accurate quote
- The appliance type and brand
- The model number (usually on a sticker inside the door or on the back panel)
- What it’s doing, or not doing
- Any error code on the display
- Your suburb
A photo of the model sticker and of any error message helps a lot if you can text or email one through.

Repair or Replace?
Is It Worth Fixing? A Simple Rule of Thumb
A quick test: if the repair, parts included, would cost more than about half the price of a comparable new appliance, replacement starts to look sensible. Below that, repairing is usually the better value, and it keeps a working machine out of landfill.
Washing machine
8 – 12 years
Worth repairing in most cases up to around 8 years, or whenever the fault is a simple part.
Dryer
10 – 13 years
Dryers are mechanically simple, so repair usually makes sense unless the drum or motor has gone.
Fridge
10 – 15 years
Most cooling faults are fixable. A failed sealed system on an older fridge is the usual time to replace.
Typical lifespans are a guide only. Use, water quality and maintenance all make a difference.
If your appliance isn’t worth repairing, the technician will tell you straight, even though it means no parts sale for us. You’ll know the real cost before you decide.
