Electrolux Washing Machine Specialists
Electrolux Washing Machine Repairs for Every Model We See in Sydney
Electrolux washing machines are common in Australian laundries, and most of the faults we see start with water: a machine that won’t drain, won’t fill or leaks. Those are usually a filter, a hose, a pump or a seal. We fix them where the machine stands, so you don’t have to drag it out of the laundry.
We repair Electrolux washing machines across Sydney, from Inner West, Parramatta, Strathfield and Burwood and North Shore. We are an independent repairer, not Electrolux. For other brands, see our washing machine repairs in Sydney page, or our LG and Fisher & Paykel washing machine pages.
Front-loading washers
The most common Electrolux in Sydney laundries. Drain pumps, door locks, door seals and bearings are the usual calls.
Top-loading washers
Simpler mechanics, so the usual faults are lid switches, drive couplings, drain pumps and agitator problems.
Washer-dryer combos
One machine, two jobs. We repair the washing side and the drying side, including blocked drains and heating faults.
Stacked and under-bench units
Common in apartments and small laundries. We work in the space you have, and plan around access.
Older Electrolux and Simpson-built models
Plenty are still running after ten years. Many are worth repairing, and we'll say honestly when one isn't.
Common Faults
Common Electrolux Washing Machine Problems and What Causes Them
The faults we see most on Electrolux washing machines, and what's usually behind them.
Won't drain or leaves water in the drum
The usual cause is a blocked drain pump filter or a failing pump. Coins, hair ties and lint collect in the filter, and the pump can seize with age. We clear the blockage, test the pump and check the drain hose.
Won't spin, or spins slowly
A machine that fills and washes but won't spin often has an unbalanced load, a worn drive belt, a failing motor or a door lock that isn't confirming it's closed. We test the lock and the motor before anything is replaced.
Leaking from the door or the bottom
Water at the front usually points at a torn door seal or a loose detergent drawer. Water at the base can be a split hose, a loose pump or a cracked tub seal. We find where it starts before ordering a part.
Banging, thumping or grinding in the spin
Loud spins can come from an unlevel machine, worn shock absorbers or tired bearings. A rumble that grows with spin speed is worth checking early, because bearings are cheaper to deal with before they fail.
Door won't open or the cycle won't start
A door that stays locked after the cycle usually has a door lock that hasn't released, often with water still in the drum. A machine that won't start can have a faulty lock, a control fault or a power problem.
Smelly drum, mould and poor cleaning
Front loaders trap moisture in the door seal and detergent drawer. Mould and smell can come from the seal, a slow drain or too much detergent. We clean and check the drain, and explain how to stop it coming back.

Before You Call
Find Your Electrolux Model Number and Try These Safe Checks
Where to find the model number
On most Electrolux washers there’s a rating label on the back of the machine, or inside the door frame on the front. Model numbers usually start with the letters EW, followed by numbers and letters. Take a photo of the label and have it ready when you call, with any error code. It helps us bring the right parts.
Safe checks you can do yourself
- Check both taps behind the machine are fully open and the hoses aren't kinked.
- Clean the drain pump filter at the bottom front, after switching the machine off and keeping a towel ready.
- Make sure the door closes with a firm click and nothing, like a sock, is caught in the seal.
- Check the machine is level and the load isn't bunched on one side.
- Use the right amount of detergent. Too much creates suds and slows the drain.
- Take a photo of any error code and the model label before you call.
Repair Or Replace
Is It Worth Repairing an Electrolux Washing Machine?
Most Electrolux washing machine faults are worth repairing. If the fix costs well under half the price of a new washer and the machine is under ten years old, repair it.
Usually worth fixing
- The machine is under about eight to ten years old
- The fault is a filter, pump, hose, lock, seal or inlet valve
- The repair costs well under half a similar new washer
- It was working normally until recently
Think twice when
- The bearings have gone on an older or budget model
- The outer tub is cracked or leaking from inside
- The control board has failed on a machine over ten years old
- The repair costs close to a new washer
Bearings are the repair that divides opinion. On a good front loader they’re often still worth doing, because the rest of the machine is sound. On an older or cheaper model, the labour can outrun the value. Check your warranty paperwork first if the machine is fairly new. The $190 call-out gets you a straight answer on the day. Got Questions?
Electrolux Washing Machine Repair FAQs
How much does an Electrolux washing machine repair cost in Sydney?
The call-out is a flat $190 and covers the diagnosis and all of the labour. If a part is needed, such as a drain pump, a door lock or a seal, you hear its price before it's fitted. Plenty of faults, like a blocked filter, need no part at all, so $190 is the whole bill.
Can you repair my Electrolux washing machine today?
Often, yes. Call early, tell us the model and what the machine is doing, and we'll offer the earliest time. We take bookings round the clock, including after-hours repairs.
Why won't my Electrolux washing machine drain?
The usual cause is a blocked drain pump filter, a kinked or clogged hose or a failing pump. Cleaning the filter is a good first check. If water still won't drain, the pump probably needs a look, and we can test it on the day.
What does error E10 mean on an Electrolux washer?
It usually points to a problem filling with water, such as a closed tap, a blocked inlet filter or a faulty inlet valve. Check the taps first. Codes can vary by model, so check your manual too, and call us if the code returns.
What does error E20 mean on an Electrolux washer?
It generally means the machine isn't draining properly. A blocked drain filter or hose, or a faulty pump, is the usual cause. Clean the filter, and if the code keeps coming back, call us.
What does error E40 mean on an Electrolux washer?
It usually means the door isn't registering as closed. Check nothing is caught in the seal and the door latches with a click. If it persists, the door lock or its wiring may be faulty.
Why is my Electrolux washer shaking or banging during the spin?
An unlevel machine or an unbalanced load is the simple cause. If it persists, worn shock absorbers or bearings are likely. A rumble that grows with spin speed is worth checking early.
Why is my Electrolux front loader leaking?
Water at the front usually means a torn door seal or a loose detergent drawer. Water at the base can be a split hose, a loose pump or a seal at the tub. We find where it starts before ordering a part.
Is it worth repairing an Electrolux washing machine if the bearings have gone?
It depends on the machine. On a good front loader that is otherwise sound, it's often still worth doing. On an older or cheaper machine, the labour can outrun the value. We'll give you an honest answer on site.
Are you an Electrolux authorised service agent?
No, we're an independent repairer. If your machine is under warranty, contact the retailer or Electrolux first. If it isn't, we'll come out.
Where do you repair Electrolux washing machines?
Across Sydney, including the CBD, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, the Hills, South West, St George and the Sutherland Shire.
What warranty comes with the repair, and is the $190 charged if I don't proceed?
Every repair has a 2-year warranty on the invoice. The $190 covers the visit and diagnosis, so it applies even if you decide against the repair, and you still get a clear answer.
