Appliance Repairs Sydney CBD and Inner City

Appliance Repairs in the City, Without the Hassle

Repairs in the city come with their own logistics. Most homes here are apartments, the kitchens are compact, and the washer and dryer are often a single unit tucked behind a cupboard door. Add lift bookings, loading docks and building managers, and a simple repair can turn into a morning of phone calls. We plan for all of that before we arrive.

We repair fridges, washing machines and dryers across the Sydney CBD, Barangaroo, Pyrmont, Ultimo, Haymarket, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Potts Point, Redfern and the streets around them. The technician tests the appliance where it stands and fixes it on the spot, so nothing has to be carried through the lobby. We also work the wider Inner West, the Eastern Suburbs and the Strathfield, Burwood and Auburn corridor if you have a second property out that way.

You get a plain explanation of what’s wrong. Most repairs are finished on the first visit, and if a part has to be ordered you hear how long it will take before the return visit is booked. Prices are laid out on our appliance repair pricing page, and the same $190 call-out applies in the city.

What We Repair

Fridge, Washing Machine and Dryer Repairs Near You

The same call-out price and the same 2-year warranty on every appliance, across every inner-city suburb.

Fridge Repairs Sydney CBD and Surry Hills

A fridge that quits is a clock running on your groceries, and city kitchens leave little room for error. We repair fridges and freezers in the CBD, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Pyrmont and Ultimo, including integrated and panel-ready models, bar fridges and French-door units from Samsung, LG and Fisher & Paykel. Call early, tell us it's a fridge, and keep the doors shut until we arrive.

Common faults we fix

  • Fridge side warm while the freezer still works
  • Compressor running non-stop, or clicking on and off
  • Freezer iced up, or frost building on the back wall
  • Water pooling on the floor or inside the crisper
  • Ice maker, water dispenser or door seal problems

Washing Machine and Washer-Dryer Repairs Inner City

Most city apartments have a compact front loader or a combined washer-dryer behind a cupboard door, and those are the machines we see most. We repair them in the CBD, Pyrmont, Ultimo, Surry Hills, Redfern and Waterloo, including under-bench units. The machine is tested and fixed in place, with water connections and drainage checked before we leave.

Common faults we fix

  • Won't drain, or leaves water sitting in the drum
  • Won't spin, or shakes and bangs through the spin cycle
  • Leaking from the door seal, hoses or the bottom of the machine
  • Door locked shut, or the lock fails and the cycle won't start
  • Error codes, or stopping halfway through a wash

Dryer Repairs Sydney CBD and Inner City

Most inner-city dryers are ventless condenser or heat pump models, because there's no outside wall to vent through. When one stops drying, the cause is usually a clogged condenser or filter, a failed heating element or a full water tray. Most are sorted on the first visit.

Common faults we fix

  • Runs but doesn't heat
  • Clothes still damp after a full cycle
  • Squealing or thumping from the drum
  • Stops mid-cycle or won't start at all
  • Burning smell (switch it off at the wall and call us)

Appliance Problems We See in the CBD and Inner City

Every part of Sydney has its own pattern. These are the ones that come up most often in city kitchens and laundries.

CBD and Pyrmont: towers and strata rules

In the towers around the CBD, Barangaroo, Pyrmont and Ultimo, repairs are shaped by the building. Lift bookings, loading docks and visitor parking all matter. Tell us what your building requires when you book and we'll plan the visit around it.

Surry Hills and Darlinghurst: terraces and warehouse conversions

Older terraces and converted warehouses mean narrow stairs, tight laundries and fridges set into custom joinery. Airflow around a built-in fridge is the first thing we check, because a fridge that can't breathe works harder and fails sooner.

Redfern, Waterloo and Zetland: new apartments, compact laundries

Newer apartment blocks come with compact washer-dryer combos and integrated appliances. Short cycles and small drain runs mean blocked pumps and condenser trouble show up fast. Those are the faults we get called out for most from here.

Not sure what’s going on with yours? Ring us with the brand, the model and what the appliance is doing, and we’ll give you a free phone quote on the likely fix.

Got Questions?

Sydney CBD and Inner City Appliance Repair FAQs

How much do appliance repairs cost in the Sydney CBD?

It's a flat $190 call-out that covers the visit, the diagnosis and all of the labour, plus the price of a part if your appliance needs one. A lot of faults, like a blocked washing machine filter or a clogged dryer condenser, need no part at all, so $190 is the whole bill. When a part is needed, you hear its price before it's fitted.

Can you repair my fridge in the CBD or Surry Hills today?

Often, yes. Ring as early in the day as you can and tell us it's a fridge, because food is the clock we work against. We take bookings 24 hours a day and do after-hours repairs too. Until the technician arrives, keep the doors shut and move anything you can't afford to lose into an esky with ice.

I live in an apartment. What do I need to arrange before you arrive?

Check whether your building needs a lift booking, loading dock access or visitor parking, and tell us when you book. If your strata or building manager wants the technician's details in advance, ask us and we'll provide what we can. The technician repairs the appliance where it stands, so nothing needs to be carried out of the unit.

Do you repair washer-dryer combos and under-bench machines?

Yes. Combined washer-dryers and compact under-bench machines are the most common laundry setup in city apartments, and we repair them in place. Tell us the brand, the model and what it's doing when you call and we'll give you a free phone quote on the likely fix.

My dryer is a ventless condenser or heat pump model and it's not drying. Why?

The usual culprits are a clogged condenser or lint filter, a full water tray, a failed heating element or a worn heat pump component. Cleaning the filter and emptying the water tray is a safe first check. If clothes are still damp after that, call us and we'll diagnose it on site.

Do you repair integrated and panel-ready fridges?

Yes. Integrated fridges behind cabinetry are common in Surry Hills, Pyrmont and newer apartments, and we repair them where they sit. The main things we check are door alignment, seals and airflow around the unit, since a fridge boxed in by joinery overheats easily.

Which suburbs do you cover in the CBD and Inner City?

Sydney CBD, The Rocks, Millers Point, Barangaroo, Haymarket, Pyrmont, Ultimo, Chippendale, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Rushcutters Bay, Redfern, Waterloo, Zetland, Alexandria and Beaconsfield, along with the rest of Sydney.

Which brands do you repair?

All the major brands, including Samsung, LG, Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Electrolux, Westinghouse, Miele, Smeg, Haier, Hisense, Whirlpool and Beko.

What warranty do I get on a repair?

Every repair carries a 2-year warranty. Keep your invoice, and if the same fault comes back within that time, call us. Plenty of Sydney repairers offer 90 days to 12 months, so two years goes well beyond the usual.

Do I still pay the $190 if I decide not to go ahead?

Yes. The $190 covers the technician's visit and the diagnosis, so it applies whether or not you go ahead. You still finish with a clear answer on what's wrong and what it would cost to fix.

Who pays for a repair in a rental or an investment apartment?

If the appliance came with the property, the repair is normally the landlord's responsibility. Check with your property manager or landlord first, and tell us when you book whose name should go on the invoice. Many city apartments are rentals, so this comes up often.

Is it worth repairing an older fridge or washing machine?

Usually, yes. If the repair costs less than about half the price of a similar new appliance and it's under roughly eight to ten years old, repairing is normally the better choice. We'll give you a straight answer on site and won't push a repair that isn't worth the money.
